Tradition & ProgressHaving been in the fine jewellery business for over 30 years we have a deep appreciation of what it takes to create exquisite, traditionally crafted rings. When disruptive innovations occur within an industry businesses have the option to either vehemently defend the status quo or to embrace the prospects of new technologies for the benefit of consumers and the wider world.
Our evolving values allowed us to recognise the need for change, so we set out to find a way of incorporating all of the positive aspects of traditional fine jewellery production that we knew, with a better alternative to mined diamonds. We looked to incorporate our values and the causes we support within our business. Traditional companies around us cling to the past and fight against change whilst new entrants into the market look to capitalise on new diamond creation technologies but without any experience or appreciation for the honourable traditions of fine jewellery production. We created a company to embody our unique combination of traditional craftsmanship and progressive, man made, natural diamond alternatives. |
We’ve reconsidered the entire buying process to make it more efficient and functional, preventing the need of having to include additional expenses in the price tag of every ring. We don’t operate fancy retail premises, we don’t offer hundreds of thoughtless designs and we create each ring to order in limited edition runs.
At MADE Diamonds we understand there are many choices when it comes to purchasing an engagement ring, so we appreciate the support of every customer who purchases a ring from us. Most people are still entrenched in the mystique of natural diamonds regardless of the consequences; we’re not too interested in them. But even most ethically minded people often opt for a natural diamond engagement ring due to lack of awareness of either the issues or a viable alternative. Our mission has been raising awareness of the issues amongst ethically minded individuals whilst building a business that challenges the conventional engagement ring buying process. It is an honour to produce such a meaningful gift as an engagement ring for so many couples who share our values. |
"I would say that discovering MADE Diamonds and choosing one of their rings to symbolise our engagement was one of the best things I've ever done. From my first enquiries, all the way through to the ring being in my hands, MADE were great to deal with, and the quality of their work unquestionable. I'll be eternally grateful."

Proud to be SmallIt’s an interesting fact is that you almost certainly will not have heard of our company before entering the process of purchasing an engagement ring. We are far from a household name for a number of reasons, and this is primarily due to the fact that we operate within such a small market. We specialise only in engagement rings rather than offering a vast array of jewellery products and we only create rings set with our lab created stones.
In stark contrast to most companies we don’t have any underlying inclination to grow far beyond our current size. We'd rather move more slowly because we're committed to the creation process and our product. We’re proud to be part of a thriving economy of small businesses within the UK and we don’t believe that every company must strive for massive growth by default. Small companies can offer a more personal service and quite often provide a far superior, more specialised product. Being small allows us the freedom to create, whilst keeping total control over the design and production process. Staying small allows us to continue to create handmade masterpieces that offer genuine value whilst keeping alive traditional jewellery production methods that don’t typically scale well. There are a number of ways we aim to reassure potential customers who might not feel comfortable with making such a large purchase from a small company whom they may never have previously heard about. We offer various secure payment methods which offer buyer protection, we provide reviews and testimonials from past customers and combine this with a rock solid money back guarantee. Our company has also been audited by the Assay Assured scheme and awarded the Trusted Retailer accreditation, which is only offered to companies in the industry who ensure consumers are protected and treated fairly. |

A Strictly Limited Collection
Another way in which we are proud to be different from almost all other engagement ring suppliers in the UK is that we offer only three limited edition ring designs at any one time. Each design is part of a strict limited edition of just 100 rings per metal type. Offering just three ring designs is a strange policy to operate and we appreciate it does not appeal to everybody’s tastes, which undoubtedly may lose us a sizeable portion of custom, but we certainly believe that overall it ultimately benefits our customers and allows us to produce higher quality rings.

The endless choice offered by most suppliers is not conducive to a pleasurable buying experience nor a quality end product. We often liken the situation to a large menu offered at a fine restaurant. An overly large menu choice almost always results in lower quality food because it is simply not possible to produce such a huge array of dishes to an outstandingly high calibre. When a menu is curated and concentrated on a number of key signature dishes, only then is it possible that the restaurant can produce food to a standard that is truly exceptional.
|
When it comes to limiting choice we appreciate that many people may prefer hundreds of designs to trawl through in order to find their ideal ring and where this is the case there are quite literally thousands of manufacturers and suppliers to choose from who offer just that. We however aim to combine the finest, most classical styles into a small number of signature designs that have been curated with love and attention, and in doing so we hope to reduce the decision paralysis often prompted by an overwhelming array of options in an unfamiliar purchasing decision.

"The small selection I think was a bonus, in other places I had looked at hundreds of rings and none jumped out, you guys had a choice of 3... and the one I wanted jumped out immediately."

"My partner absolutely loves the ring, she loves that there are only 3 designs & only 100 made of each design meaning it isn't one of thousands taken off a production line from a shop."

Our Ethical Values
The belief that ethical goods cannot be luxurious, or that luxurious goods cannot be ethical is a harmful mindset that has prevented the adoption of sustainable products across all industries. Fast fashion continues to cause worldwide problems far beyond the clothing and apparel sectors, as people buy into the throw-away culture that benefits big businesses whilst causing humanitarian and environmental disasters across the developing world. Consumption is not the problem and people deserve to own quality luxurious goods that last, but it is the production and consumption of goods which are not built to last, goods that are designed to become obsolete, thrown away and replaced within a matter of months that remains the threat.

Living More Ethically
It's not always easy to tell whether we are seeing a genuine rise in people living more ethically, or whether we are simply perceiving that it is the case because we work with so many brilliantly conscious people who care about the planet and everything on it.
The numbers don't lie though, and you only have to take a look at the monumental growth in searches relating to ethical and sustainable living to know for certain that things are changing and many of these movements are reaching what could be considered a critical mass. We wanted to delve a little deeper into what is behind all of this and provide some guidance for anyone looking to incorporate a bit of positive sustainability into their own lives. We have explored the key trends driving the movement and spoken to numerous businesses operating within the ethical market to gain more understanding of the issues, whilst hopefully helping to show how we can all do our bit! |
