Luxury with Integrity

If cartel pricing, ecological destruction and human rights abuses are your kind of thing, then a natural diamond could possibly be your best friend! Natural diamonds aren’t as special as most people often think. They most definitely are not as rare as people perceive them to be, and they could surely never be worth the devastation caused by searching for them.

We exist to provide enlightened couples with exquisitely hand crafted engagement rings which they can be proud of in every way. We combine ethical credentials, disruptive technology and the fine craftsmanship of painstaking traditional production methods.

Believing that nothing can compare to a natural diamond is an outdated, harmful mindset engendered by years of clever marketing from the natural diamond industry. Every day we see these attitudes transforming and evolving among progressive, discerning couples who favour a more ethical, logical and savvy alternative, one more fit for the twenty first century.
“After careful thought with my girlfriend we decided that we wanted an engagement ring that was guaranteed to be ethically sourced.”
JAMES, LEICESTER - The Hampton Limited Edition - 1.5ct Stone - 18K Yellow Gold

"I was very conscious of the many ethical issues related to the use of natural diamonds in engagement rings particularly, and felt it would be a truer representation of the values that my fiance and I share on these issues if I looked for an alternative option."

More Than Just a Trend

Ethical purchasing and conscious consumerism is more than just a trend, it is a generational movement which is here to stay. The modern age has brought about a heightened awareness of issues across all kinds of industries and people feel more empowered than ever to embrace change for the better. As people learn of the real cost associated with their purchasing decisions, they begin questioning their previous habits and searching out products and services which are more in line with their deep-rooted values and beliefs.

As we move towards a more sustainable world, we believe the largest portion of responsibility for progress lies with companies who must endeavour to produce more ethical goods that provide quality, value for money and sustainability simultaneously. Companies who strive to provide such products and services will surely reap the rewards and prosper, whilst those that do not evolve will fall by the wayside.

The movement is currently being pioneered by a small but rapidly growing section of the economy, with both ethical businesses and consumers using new media platforms to spread their messages. Ultimately though we believe the focus must be on making it easier for consumers to make better decisions. Given a product of equal quality and price there are few consumers who would opt for the unethical, unsustainable version provided there is sufficient awareness of the cause.

MADE Diamonds will perform day-to-day just like the finest mined diamond and they are offered at a price point well below comparable quality mined diamonds. In addition to this we have built our business around the goal of ensuring value for money by stripping away unnecessary costs, preventing the need to build these into the price of our rings. All this being the case we believe our rings offer more, or at the very least equal, benefits over natural diamond rings. The fact that our rings are ethical in every way, whilst mined diamonds are responsible for a tragic array of harm, hopefully makes the decision to opt for a MADE Diamonds ring an easy one!

ETHICAL & LUXURY NEED NOT BE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE

There is a common perception that ethical or sustainable purchases cannot be luxurious, beautifully designed or offer great value. Whilst there has been progress on these fronts, there does remain a distinct notion that ethical goods are either ugly and poorly designed, or prohibitively expensive whilst offering poor value for money.

The idea that ethical and sustainable goods need to be more expensive in order to be so, has held back a progressive movement towards the general adoption of more responsible consumption. We believe we are part of a growing number of companies across all kinds of industries who are challenging those perceptions.

Proud to be Part of a Thriving Economy of
Small Businesses in the UK

We believe in a future where small independent businesses with distinct offerings thrive and co-exist alongside one another. It’s the way our economy functioned for thousands of years until recently when industries have begun to be dominated by a small number of huge organisations, getting ever bigger and offering ever more thoughtless choice.

Small companies can offer choice in a different way, by truly embodying an idea or a set of values, offering something curated, something very specific, and most importantly something created for someone rather than a faceless consumer.

We’re a small family business, we love what we do and we have no ambition to grow far beyond our current size. Whilst large jewellery retailers have
become the default choice for most people buying an engagement ring, we like to think we offer something distinctly different, slightly more special and more considered, whilst incorporating our beliefs and our values into the foundations of our work.

Ethical Engagement Rings in the UK

An engagement ring is such a meaningful and symbolic gesture and the pressure to pick the right ring can be immense. You must select a ring that ticks so many boxes, and unfortunately the ethical credentials of the ring can often take a back seat to more importantly perceived factors such as the aesthetics of the ring, selecting a safe and accepted known kind of stone, and of course the price of the ring.

But for anyone who cares for the environment, animal welfare or human rights abuses, the ethical soundness of their ring which will be worn constantly for the rest of their lives is in reality paramount. So many ethically minded people end up wearing a natural diamond unnecessarily because their partner did not consider the possibility of an ethical stone. Our goal over the years has been to make it easier for ethically aware couples in the UK to opt for a man made stone. We've looked to help couples select a more sustainable and eco-friendly stone by raising awareness of the issues surrounding natural diamonds, demonstrating that a viable alternative to natural diamonds exists and offering a complete value proposition that makes sense.

When you opt for an ethical engagement ring that is in line with your partners values it demonstrates another level of thought which has been put into the purchase of a ring, in turn making an inherently special occasion even more meaningful. If your partner cares about the planet and all of its inhabitants, an ethical engagement ring is really the only logical choice.
"My partner was blown away by the ring, and loved the extra lengths I had gone to to find an alternative option to the norm. We feel the ring has a little story behind it that reflects who we are as people, and that means a lot to us."
