Over the coming weeks and months we're going to be producing a series of blog posts which will provide some useful information and thoughts on things to consider when purchasing an ethical engagement ring, or any engagement ring for that matter.

We will go on to explore a host of other areas of consideration but first we must of course tackle the subject of the stone. It is important to remember all of the C's when purchasing a diamond. Size (Carat) is only one consideration, and the other three C's can sometimes be neglected- Cut, Clarity and Colour, all of which have a very important bearing on the appearance of the stone and ultimately the entire ring. Our stones are all of a consistently high quality on each of these measures which can make this part of the decision making process easier when purchasing one of our stones.

As for the stone itself, the default (and we appreciate often the safer) option is to opt for a natural diamond. First thing's first, whatever claims are made about natural diamonds, they can absolutely positively never be ethically sourced. The most obvious thing to consider that thousands of tonnes of earth must be moved in order to find just one tiny diamond, and diamonds are generally only found in unspoilt areas of the earth which are home to some of the most diverse and precious wildlife. The damage caused is simply irreparable. With regards to conflict stones, you can never be certain that human suffering has not been necessary for the diamond to reach you. Even where companies can be fairly sure that they have not engaged in harmful practised towards other humans in their retrieval of diamonds, it is almost certain the the land was acquired in the past by force and a less than rosy history exists.

We always urge people to do your research. Use independent sources to find out what you should be looking for in a diamond, but do keep in mind that the natural diamond market, threatened by the rise of lab created diamonds, will obviously do anything they can to denounce man made diamonds whilst proclaiming the superiority of natural stones. But if you do your research and then examine our offering we really do believe we offer the truest and best value ethical offering available in the UK today. We are proud to be launching a full bespoke ring production service for 2015. We have always received many requests for bespoke pieces and we have actually created quite a number of bespoke engagement rings during 2014, however we've never actually explicitly advertised that we offer such a service.

All of our rings are hand made to order so it is relatively easy for us to provide a custom ring production service and it seems that it's the solution many people are looking for. Whilst we will continue to focus on our limited edition designs, we will be offering a bespoke service alongside our core offerings.


There are a few key reasons we've noticed that people approach us with a request of a bespoke engagement ring. The most common reason is that they have found a natural diamond engagement ring that they've fallen in love with, but as with more and more people, they've decided they do not want to opt for a natural diamond. The perfect solution is to have a ring made in that design but featuring a MADE Diamonds stone. The other major reason is that some people are just set on the idea of a bespoke, custom-made ring.
