Thank You to All Our Customers!

29/3/2014

We wanted to take the opportunity to publicly thank each and every one of our customers! Since launching we have had the pleasure of supplying our beautiful limited edition lab created diamond engagement rings to many satisfied customers and we want to thank you all for believing in us and joining our cause to promote ethically sustainable diamond engagement rings.

Customers from all over the UK have allowed us to supply them with our hand crafted rings and we're excited to get the opportunity to work with more customers every day.

When we launched MADE Diamonds Engagement Rings we had no idea whether it would be a success or not. We of course had many doubts about whether people would believe in what we're doing and whether they would trust us enough take a relative gamble on us and our product. But we're happy to say that the feedback so far has been fantastic. With lab created diamonds being relatively unknown in the UK, we hoped that people would appreciate the quality that is now possible thanks to technological advancements, but people have put their faith in us and allowed us to be part of such a special and magical life event.

We love to hear from our customers, past, present and future, so if you have any questions or comments you'd like to share, please don't hesitate to get in touch using our contact page.

So once again, a big thank you to all our past and future customers for your support and allowing us to help provide a truly ethical alternative to natural diamonds whilst maintaining the luxury, craftsmanship and love that befits such an important purchase.

Thank you! x

Why We're Not on Social Media (much)

27/3/2014

You may have noticed that we're not on many of the "traditional" social media channels (I can't believe I'm referring to any social media as "traditional" but maybe it's time). So most notably we're not on Facebook or Twitter. We just don't feel they suited us and we had the idea that we would do a small number of things and try to do them well, rather than do what many companies do and feel they have to be on every single form of social media available, and in the process end up with boring and pointless tweets and posts that are irrelevant and uninteresting.

We know these two can work for some companies, but it has to be said there aren't many companies who's daily (or sometimes hourly) Facebook posts or Tweets make for interesting or useful reading. They such constant "always on" platforms that we feel they diminish the meaning and worth of company's message.

So we thought we'd focus on just a small number of social media outlets and try to do them well, starting with this here blog! In a blog we felt we could more effectively communicate the brand's vision and help educate people about lab created diamonds, engagement rings and our concept of luxury with integrity.

We're also on Pinterest. The more visual nature of Pinterest allows us to showcase our designs and also visually demonstrate why we do what we do. There is nothing more effective than visually showing people the harm that is caused by diamond mining. Please visit our MADE Diamonds Engagement Rings Pinterest Page.

Google Plus is a newer social network but one with many possibilities to connect with like minded people and communities. It's an interesting outlet that currently allows us to share a blog to a wider audience, but in the future who knows. Take a look at our MADE Diamonds Engagement Rings Google Plus Page here.

So if you were wondering, now you know. We're not on certain popular social media sites, but it's a concious choice, and one we feel works for us!

You Should be Proud to Purchase an Ethical Lab Created Diamond Engagement Ring

25/3/2014

Social pressure dominates much of our culture, and no where more than in our purchasing decisions. There is no real harm in being brand concious by any means. Brands exist to be a mark of quality and buying a branded product means you can be largely assured of quality, if quality is one of your main buying concerns.

But there are all kinds of other social pressures that affect our buying decisions. We suffer greatly from the historical stigma that man-made, lab created diamonds are inferior to natural diamonds. Besides this simply no longer being the case, the people and companies promoting this out-dated vision are of course the natural diamond suppliers and retailers themselves. But because of this notion, built up over many decades, if a man doesn't buy a natural mined diamond, for some reason he might be viewed as cheap or not wanting the best for his loved one.

Lets just break this down to the reality of the situation. Society (or at least large areas of it) perceive that if a man doesn't spend often far more than they can afford on a product that causes untold destruction to the environment and endangered wildlife, they are not honourable? That is what years of slick marketing has ingrained in peoples' minds, as crazy as it sounds when it's spelled out.

So our mission is to progress this perception. As we've said, it would be lunacy to think we could change everybody's minds, that's not our goal. Our goal is to be progressive and present another option, a real alternative, for honourable men looking for a more ethical alternative to a natural diamond. Is that not something to be proud of? We truly believe so.

You are probably sitting there thinking "Well of course they'd say that!", but you don't have to be a crazed eco-warrior or hippie to recognise that diamond mining is inherently harmful and that by supporting such industries you are ensuring their continuation. So for such an important purchase as an engagement ring, have the satisfaction of buying a ring that you can honestly and truly be proud of purchasing.

Standing for Something & Being Part of a Cause

24/3/2014

We think that every company and brand should stand for something. In this day and age with so much diversity and choice made available to people every day, there lies a great opportunity for brands to actually stand for something and make a difference. With the possibility of making a difference and having a positive influence on the world, why don't more brands stand for something? Well it's risky to stand for something, you might not appeal to everyone and you might not fit in. But fitting in is way overrated.

The MADE Diamonds brand represents ethical luxury in engagement rings. Luxury with integrity. We saw an opportunity to have a positive influence on the engagement ring market by combining cutting edge technologies in lab created diamonds with traditional diamond engagement ring manufacturing and craftsmanship, to create engagement rings that represent integrity and honour rather than the horrifying (but totally overlooked) reality of diamond mining. The damage and destruction caused to the environment and wildlife cannot continue to be ignored.

Our rings more than anything represent change, whilst maintaining the positive elements of traditional British manufacturing. Being part of this cause and promoting change means that inevitably we will not appeal to everybody, but we are ok with that. No real change or progress can be achieved overnight. But already many men are seeking us out, men who want their engagement ring to represent beauty and elegance without the negative connotations of natural diamonds. Everyday more people seek us out and word of mouth is spreading. In May we are due to be featured in GQ Magazine which will further help spread the word and help people realise that an alternative to the mass produced dross of the natural engagement ring market is no longer the only accessible option.

So we'll continue to stand for something and spread the word for our cause. Read more about our man made diamond engagement rings and traditional manufacturing here.

The Merchants of Average

19/3/2014

We have already talked about many of the reasons we created MADE Diamonds Engagement Rings, but by far one of the biggest motivations was just the need for something better, something different, whilst maintaining the heritage and craftsmanship of the luxury engagement ring market.

Of course the diamond itself is where our initial focus lay. The frustration that technology is allowing us to do all kinds of wonderful things in the world, yet we can't create an ethical man made diamond that lives up to the quality of a natural stone. Really? It just didn't sit right with us. So we sought out the very latest in lab created diamond technology and created MADE Diamonds.

The other factor was our sheer frustration at the lack of creativity and exclusivity in the engagement ring market. Retailers that sell hundreds, if not thousands, of generic mass produced diamond engagement rings. Firstly how is anyone supposed to make a decision with that many designs? Yes choice can be good, but simply creating thousands of different designs just for the sake of it doesn't exactly create beautiful and special rings. Secondly why would anyone want a mass produced ring created in a far away country by someone paid pittance to churn out low quality dross. So we decided our engagement ring designs must be classic and timeless, created in strictly limited editions and be made by hand in Britain. Our engagement rings are created in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter by our master jewellers, combining the most advanced technologies in lab created diamonds with traditional British craftsmanship in engagement rings.

So we are making a stand, a stand against the merchants of average in the engagement ring market. Besides being generic and boring, they are in fact peddling a harmful and our-dated idea that natural diamonds have a place in today's world.
